Urs and Anita Burgi were our gracious hosts....

.... for our Holy Friday meal.  Fresh fish, (killed that day).

Anita and Ursula.....

.....Ursula is close friend and Godmother to Marco Burgi.

I found out that Ursula and I are.....

.....related.  We have a common ancestor born in 1768.  (Peter Stukie)

This is the Master Chef....

....he made us homemade potato soup, fish and fennel for our meal.

This is how it looks with the skin pealed back.....

.....and ready to enjoy.

For dessert we had this delicous chocolate....

.....cake that Ursula made.  It was very moist, kind of like a pudding cake.

Anita has this painting hanging over....

....the fireplace on our side of the Chalet.  It is the BÜRGI Coat of Arms and her father painted it.

We see many different kinds of handwriting of.....

.....the census takers.  This is an example of good handwriting.

Here is an example of poor handwriting...

....this would be hard to read and index.

Sunday morning 24 March.....

We awoke to a huge cloud over the lake this morning.  It was so thick we couldn't see the the lake or the ski area.  It was kinda spooky.

We had over 10 inches of snow on Tuesday morning....

.....but the next day, we had temperatures near 50 degrees.

We do the dirty work....

.....just turning pages of these books gets JoAnn's rubber gloves this dirty.

This is where we work....

....it is the delivery/storage area of the Archives. We are right next to the loading dock. When shipments come in the large door is left open, and we feel the effects of the winter weather.  Sometimes JoAnn wears her coat and gloves and we continue to take photographs.

JoAnn made these delicious cake pops....

...for Church today and boy were they a hit.  They were all gone in 2 minutes.

JoAnn caught this sure sign of Spring....

....there was snow all around except in this one spot.

On my walk today....

.....I looked up and saw this dragon on the hill side.

Schwarzsee (German) or Lac Noir (French)...

....is the lake in front of our Chalet.  In English it is Black lake.  It is about 1 mile long and 1/2 half mile wide in the middle.  It is frozen over and the ice is over 1 foot thick.

Not a very clear picture....

.....but this guy is out on the frozen lake wind skiing.  Can you see his green sail?

Another unique vehicle...

.....just going down the street in Fribourg, Switzerland

We had a hard time catching up....

....with this guy.  He was really going fast.

JoAnn is taking the picture....

...making sure the borders are uniform and that the page is not skewed.  This book has to be done one side at a time.  We take all the left pages first and then go through the book again taking all the right pages in the proper order..

Bill is making sure the book is.....

....level and at the correct height. As you capture pages, the height changes (the book gets lower) from the camera above. So we have to keep raising the table.  We check height and level after every 25 pictures.  This book is of the 1850 census and weighs over 40 pounds.

The resort town of Schwarzsee....

....if you look closely you can see a paraglider with a red sail in the middle of this picture.  People are out on the lake, walking, skating, cross country skiing, or just having fun.  A lot of paragliders land on the lake as it is very close to the ski lift which takes them up again for another flight.

At 6:30 AM we were headed off to work...

....but had to take a picture of the moon over the mountain.

On one of my walks, after work.....

....I took this picture of the trail I take.  The sun is just setting behind the mountains.
