This is a book from the 1850 Census....

....it weighs over 45 pounds and opened is 44" by 29".

A little Christmas cheer...

....Anita had this on our fireplace hearth.  When the candles are lit, the hot air goes up and turns the pinwheel.  In the little home is a little manger scene.  This is one of Anita's Swiss decorations.

Shannon Rigaud.....

....We have our old Home/Visiting families back....here is one of our blessings.

JoAnn wanted to show everyone how narrow the roads are here....

.....she is practicing her Swiss driving skills and doing very well.

This is a little village....

....just down the road from where we live.  JoAnn was driving so I could take pictures.

Here are two pages that we digitized...

......this week.  There were some Burgis here in the 1800'.  I've tracked my Burgi line back to the 1500's and they all came from the Eastern part of Switzerland, not here.

The next six pictures were taken....

.....at a Swiss military open house where my cousin's son, (Marco Burgi) is in training.  This weapon that I am holding weighs over 40 pounds.

All kinds of weapons....

....were on display here.

This is a drill....

......where this group of Swiss soldiers were shot at by the enemy.

In this Military drill....

.....they are attacking the enemy back.

Private Marco Burgi....

....is on guard duty, he is at ease, but has to salute every officer that walks by.

This belongs to....

....my favorite 2nd cousin, once removed.

Elder Chidester is going home tomorrow....

.....he is returning to the Salt Lake Valley after two years in the France Lyon Mission.

First page of a new book....

....this is an alphabetical listing of the villages that this census book covers.

JoAnn setting up a new book...

....there are many steps to begin a new book.  We try not to forget any of them.

Our new office....

.....we are lucky they found a spot for us.  They are swamped with storing old records from many of the villages and cities in the canton.  They found this little corner for us.

Where I do my computer work....

....how can I concentrate??

Such a lovely view.....

....more enjoyable than working on my computer.

Right out my window....

......and I wonder why I can't get any work done at the chalet.

This is where we will live for the next 6 months....

.....it is a duplex chalet owned by my cousins Urs and Anita Burgi. They
have been very kind to let us live here and it is only 30 minutes from the Archives where we will work. We live in one half and they live in the other.

This is a picture of the ski area....

....taken from our patio at the chalet.

This is the view of Schwarzsee (Black lake)....

....from the patio of our chalet.

Another view from our chalet....

                                                   .....just beautiful in any season.

Here we are in front of our new camera set-up....

....installed by our trainer David.  This is where we will work for the next several months digitizing about 100,000 census records for the Archives of Canton Fribourg, Switzerland.

This is our trainer, David Schauperl from Germany....

.....he is married to a gal who's former home teacher was President Uchtdorf, when he was a Bishop/Stake president.  David used to stay at Pres. Uchtdorf's house when he was long distance dating her, in Germany.  Now they have 4 children.  He was a great trainer.

We stopped and helped the Missionaries....

.....give a fellowshipping lesson to a new convert from Mongolia.  Ogee is in the center.

These fellas are quite cute....

.....at least one of them is using the bench.

JoAnn likes the coloring of these small goats.....

                                                       ....and they seem quite tame.

These are just off the side of the road.....

about 2 miles from our Church.

On the way home from church today......

we passed this gal with her horse drawn card. 6 January 2013

This is in our side of the duplex.....

Check it out....real candles.
